Heart of Pre-War Warsaw
Grzybowski Square is a place where different eras and cultures intertwine. Before World War II, it was the heart of Jewish Warsaw. Today, next to the restored Nożyk Synagogue, the only surviving pre-war synagogue in the city, modern glass skyscrapers rise, creating an amazing contrast.
Attractions in the Area
Nożyk Synagogue
The only surviving synagogue from pre-war Warsaw. It survived the war because the Germans used it as a horse feed warehouse.
Próżna Street
One of the few Warsaw streets whose buildings on both sides survived the destruction of the ghetto. Now beautifully revitalized.
All Saints Church
During the war, it found itself within the borders of the ghetto, and its parish priest, Fr. Marceli Godlewski, helped save thousands of Jews.
