The Most Elegant Street in Warsaw

Nowy Świat Street constitutes the southern part of the Royal Route. It is the historical and cultural artery of the city, full of classicist tenement houses, exclusive boutiques, prestigious cafes and restaurants. Rebuilt after the war in a style referring to the 19th century, it has retained its representative character.

What to See on Nowy Świat?

Blikle Cafe

The most famous patisserie in Warsaw, operating since 1869. Its donuts are a true culinary icon of the capital.

Nicolaus Copernicus Monument

The famous monument of the astronomer by Bertel Thorvaldsen, located in front of the Staszic Palace (a bit north along the Route).

Nowy Świat Pavilions

A hub of pubs and bars hidden at the back of tenement houses. A favorite evening meeting place for Warsaw students.

Visitor Tips

  • Weekend promenade: On summer weekends, parts of Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście are closed to car traffic.

  • Golden Duck: When looking for souvenirs, check out the neighboring Chmielna Street - one of the longest promenades in Warsaw.
